We were approached by the co-workers of mom-to-be, Ashley, to plan her baby shower lunch, held at her corporate office in midtown Manhattan. The vision for this event was a safari theme, incorporating a color palette of blue and green with bright orange accents. We wanted to stay away from the cartoon-like safari animals that are most commonly found when seeking décor for this particular theme, so we made an effort to think outside of the box and create something a little more modern and sophisticated. Our inspiration came from beautiful watercolor art of safari animals we found at Peach and Gold via Etsy. We customized the paintings to match our color scheme perfectly and integrated the lion, giraffe and elephant silhouettes into various elements of the décor, including the custom invitations.
Natural elements like bamboo and lush greenery were added to the design of the tables cape, dessert bar and flower arrangements.
The lovely flower arrangements incorporated light blue and white hydrangeas, green ferns, Tiffany roses, blue thistle and pops of orange ranunculus and cymbidium orchids. Mini lotus pods and feathers were perfectly tasteful safari theme accents.
A light lunch of tea sandwiches and greens was served buffet style with custom calligraphy on paper leaves for food cards.
Custom hand painted sugar cookies, colorful macaroons and a beautiful rustic tier cake for desserts were a beautiful and delicious way highlight the theme. A large bamboo screen provided the perfect backdrop for this display!
